Overview
Income/Expense journal includes four input modes - "Record Expense", "Record Income", "Prepay Expense", and "Receive in Advance". In this tutorial I will describe the interface of each input mode by examples. Record Expense
Scenario: On 19th October 2009, Smith bought a business suit, for which he spent 2000 dollars totally, he paid 1200 dollars by cash, and paid 800 dollars by credit card. Smith recorded a "Record Expense" journal in WidenHome, as the following picture.

Now I will describe the meaning of each input field based on the example.
- Trading Date: The date of the actual business transaction, for example, the date when Smith did this transaction is 19th October 2009.
- Handled By: Indicates who handled this business transaction, it's optional.
- Description: Describes this business transaction briefly.
- Expense Items: Here we can add one or more items of expense. For example, Smith added an expense item about costume purchase.
- Payment Modes: Here we can add one or more payment modes. For example, Smith used two payment modes in this expense.
Record Income
Scenario: On 19th October 2009, Smith received 3000 dollars of salary for September, thereinto 1000 dollars cash, and 2000 dollars from bank transfer. Smith recorded a "Record Income" journal in WidenHome, as the following picture.

Now I will describe the meaning of each input field based on the example.
- Trading Date: The date of the actual business transaction, for example, the date when Smith did the transaction is 19th October 2009.
- Handled By: Indicates who handled this business transaction, it's optional.
- Description: Describes this business transaction briefly.
- Income Items: Here we can input one or more input items. For example, Smith added an item about salary income.
- Collection Modes: Here we can input one or more collection modes. For example, Smith collected his salary of September by two ways.
Prepay Expense
Scenario: On 19th October, Smith paid 6000 dollars to his landlord for the house rent of the next three months, and paid 10 dollars for handling charge. Paying house rent for three months at a time can be treated as prepaid expense. Smith recorded a "Prepay Expense" journal in WidenHome, as the following picture.

- Trading Date: The date of the actual business transaction, for example, the date when Smith did this transaction is 19th October 2009.
- Handled By: Indicates who handled this business transaction, it's optional.
- Description: Describes this business transaction briefly.
- Prepaid Subject: The subject for prepaid expense.
- Handling Charge: The handling charge for the transaction, if there is no handling charge, then it is no need to be filled.
- Payment Modes: Here we can input one or more payment modes. For example, Smith used cash payment and bank transfer here.
Receive in Advance
Scenario: On 19th October 2009, Smith received 8000 dollars earnest money from a publisher. Smith recorded a "Receive in Advance" journal in WidenHome, as the following picture.

- Trading Date: The date of the actual business transaction, for example, the date when Smith did this transaction is 19th October 2009.
- Handled By: Indicates who handled this business transaction, it's optional.
- Description: Describes this business transaction briefly.
- Advance Receipts: The subject of advance receipts.
- Collection Modes: Here we can input one or more collection modes.
